Thanksgiving & weekend

On Friday Wayne and I set out to get a fresh Christmas tree. Normally we use our fake tree, but I just couldn't bring myself to putting it together again and then stuffing it back into it's box after Christmas. I just missed having a fresh tree. We ended up at Wayne's sister Judy and brother-in-law, Gene Gascho's place in Aurora where they have raised Christmas trees. These pictures are out of order but here you see it all decorated and maybe you'll notice the round gift box to the left of the tree. That holds water and then there is a little hose that runs from the box to the tree holder and automatically keeps water in the holder when needed. Of course, I do need to check the box daily and add water in it, but that sure beats crawling under the tree and adding water in the tree holder! :-)

Wayne cut the tree down - 7 1/2 ft.

Measuring the tree. Just looking at a tree and thinking it will be fine can be deceiving until you get it home. We still had to cut some off the bottom so it would fit properly in the tree holder.

Thanksgiving was at our house this year and missing was David, Carissa and Hannah. They had dinner with the Pfnister family, but stopped by later to say "hi" to the rest of us.

Josiah, Micah and Hannah were playing some sort of game with the name tags that were left on the table. Josiah likes to tell Micah and Hannah what to do. :-)

Such concentration and some outbursts!

Russ, Maribeth, Melinda, Anna and Cambria were hungry too!

On Sunday afternoon Anna, Carissa's friend, Karen and myself put on a baby shower for Carissa. The guests were friends of Carissa's that she had worked with at MAPS, and other friends.

Later that evening immediate family had a belated birthday party for Anna and our "adopted son", Nick. Wayne seems to have put in a hard day, but actually he wasn't feeling great. Cami didn't seem to mind though. :-)

Nick is reading through Anna's baking instructions. She had a great idea and gave him some frozen meals and cookie dough, complete with instructions.

An enjoyable and busy weekend!

Wow that's pretty nifty, a little thing with a hose to water your tree! :) Amazing what they come up with! Where'd you find something like that?
